A Major Virgin Island History Milestone
In 1917, all of the Virgin Islands were sold by Denmark to the United States of America for $25 million in gold. In 1936 the passing of “The Organic Act” made St Croix self-governing.
Throughout St Croix history, the island has flown seven different flags. It has been colonized by Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, the Knights of Malta, Denmark, and the United States.
